Most gemstones have existed in human history for thousands of years if not longer. Rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and diamonds have been mentioned as precious valuables in countless histories since the dawn of time. Tanzanite rings have only existed since the discovery of the gem back in 1967 in Tanzania. Since then, though, jewelers across the globe have clamored to put well cut tanzanite gems into rings of all sorts and varieties. Why is a tanzanite ring so highly sought after? The simple answer is that the contrast created between the deep blues and violets of tanzanite and the silver like sheen of polished metal is simply dazzling. Darker tanzanite rings tantalize the soul with their mystique and elegance.
Many jewelers add to the delightfully vibrant colors exhibited by tanzanite by including other gemstones in the ring design. Diamond seems to be the most popular choice for this, likely because the brilliance of this gem adds to the sparkle and shine of the overall ring. Smaller diamonds surrounding or leading to the tanzanite looks fantastic since the light reflected by the diamonds seem to draw the eye naturally to the richly colored tanzanite gem.
Tanzanite rings can be found in all sorts of different styles and designs, so there’s definitely something for everybody. The specific color of the tanzanite ranges from a dark blue with violet overtones to a more lavender like hue.
