Many people opt to use platinum or white gold for their engagement rings and/or wedding rings. You might be interested to learn that during World War II, the United States government made the declaration that Platinum would be considered a strategic metal, rendering it unusable in jewelry for a period of time. If the two of you are currently shopping for rings, you will probably want to try on a number of different types (and talk to your jeweler) about how to decide what the best choice might be for you, given your personal taste, your jewelry budget and any other considerations.
